Life just happens and as we live it each day we find that we need help from a greater source. The life of a Christian is not one without the same challenges that happen to all peoples. Sometimes it is even harder as we seem to be tried and tested daily. What makes it easier is the fact that we can always rely upon our God to lean upon and know that He will carry us when we cannot walk. He will be there always so we are never alone. May these words that He has given to me give you the encouragement and desire to become closer to One who loves you, knows you and will never leave you.How beautiful Easter was in Hope Hull, that Sunday morning. We stood by the lake and as the clouds rolled over us, we remem¬bered the happy news from so long ago. It must have been a day much like this one as Mary Magdalene and the other Mary made their way to the tomb. The sadness and longing in their hearts as they remembered Jesus and the cruel way He had died. How intense they felt the emptiness in their hearts over the loss of their loved one. With the threat of rain hanging over us, there surely were many sad hearts remember-ing loved ones passed on- remember¬ing, too, the cruel death of Jesus. Yet, as the crowd gathered there by the lake and many others kept coming- a ripple of joy began to spread. Jesus is not dead, He Lives!! The tenor voice of Tom Searcy rang out, “I’ll Rise Again, death can’t keep me in the ground...” As all the music and singing filled the early morning air, a joy of celebration was felt knowing that the tomb was indeed empty on that morning so long ago.On this Easter morning by the lake at the First Southern Baptist Church in Hope Hull, Alabama- Christians from many other churches gathered in celebration of the resurrection of our Lord, to give our praises to God for the deliverance of His Son and the conquering of death for all men.“We despised him and rejected him - a man of sorrows, ac-quainted with bitterest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way when we went by. He was despised and we didn’t care. Yet, it was our grief he bore, our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, for his own sins! But He was wounded and bruised for our sins. He was chastised that we might have peace. He was lashed - and we were healed! We are the ones who strayed away like sheep! We, who left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet God laid on Him the guilt and sins of every one of us!” Isaiah 53:3-6 (LB)
